Global citizenship

The impact of geopolitics on digital identity exerts pressure on infrastructure and resources. People in developed countries have greater access to new technologies at present; at the same time, many of the innovations provide turnaround opportunities for less-developed countries to capitalise on new markets. For example, in some African countries money transfers by mobile, known as M-Pesa (first introduced in Kenya in 2017) or mobile money, bypassed banking systems by using text messages, and phone network size trade became worth billions.

Furthermore, geopolitics has recently been reflected in the global competition on 5G. The emergence of the new technology and the surrounding security questions have been significantly affected by geopolitical questions. At the same time, 5G presents great opportunities for start-ups with its superior connection speed and capacity.
